Women in the Pet Care Industry

Women in the Pet Care Industry

With almost 13 million small businesses owned by women, female entrepreneurs are continuing to take over the space. With only one-third of female franchise owners, there is still room to grow. Amy Addington and Leslie Barron co-founders of Woofie’s wanted to combine passion with business and made a perfect pet care franchise.

Like many female entrepreneurs, they left their corporate jobs to pursue their dreams and love for animals. Their business evolved into becoming the first in the franchise system to combine pet sitting, dog walking, and mobile grooming. Woofie’s went on to be acquired by Authority Brands in January 2022, which has provided more resources, systems, and marketing.

Woofie’s is dedicated to making franchising possible for all, especially women. That’s why Woofie’s teamed up with the International Franchise Association to provide $5,000 off to women and minority owners. Their leadership team is all female which is important to them.
